Alex N (December 4, 1910 - September 8, 1991) was an American composer responsible for the first jazz based film score (A Streetcar Named Desire) and a 1st truly modernist film score (Viva Zapata!).
Natural around Chester, Pennsylvania, Alex North was an original composer probably potentially per classical music standards of the day.
Even so, he managed to integrate his modernism into typical film music leitmotiv structure, rich by using themes. One of these became a noted song, "Unchained Melody". Nominative for an Oscar 15 times, Alex Northerly is the exclusively film composer to win the life-time accomplishment Oscar.
His virtually all popular film scores of victims numbers of non already mentioned come Spartacus, Cleopatra, Dragonslayer, ''Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, The Devil's Brigade'', and the rejected score for Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey.
